About Us

UFME is the expression of the Order of Friars Minor (OFM), founded by St. Francis of Assisi in 1209, in order to live the Gospel in the Church according to the pattern observed and proposed by its founder and preach to every creature. UFME was established in the 1980s to respond to the desire to play, at European level, a harmonic action and pursue common goals.

UFME is formed by the members of the Order of Friars Minor and is represented by the Provincial Ministers, the general Guardians and Definitors of the European continent. The sons of St. Francis of Assisi present on the European territory are more than 8.000. The Franciscan convents and cases are grouped, on territorial basis, in PROVINCES; Provinces as well are assembled on a territorial and linguistic basis, in CONFERENCES.
